About an hour later, at 5:37 am local time on the 30th, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake occurred at almost the same location, with a depth of 40 kilometers. A 1 magnitude earthquake was once again observed in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture.

The report stated that neither earthquake triggered a tsunami.
