The Songyang Xinxiang Soil Image Creation Exhibition “Peking University Songyang Xinxiang Soil Image Creation Exhibition” (hereinafter referred to as the “Creation Exhibition”) kicked off on the 10th at Peking University. The event consists of two parts: the “Ideal of the World Only in Songyang” exhibition and the “Dian Dian Firefly Towards Songyang” exhibition.

In his speech, Xiang Yong, Dean of the Institute of Cultural Industry at Peking University, reviewed his acquaintance with Songyang and the “changes” he saw during his two visits. He affirmed the important significance of Songyang’s new paradigm of rural revitalization under the guidance of new concepts and practical promotion; Later, the reform and exploration carried out by the School of Arts at Peking University in professional master’s education and training were shared. The deep integration of courses with rural entrepreneurship practice not only helps to cultivate students’ comprehensive abilities and social responsibility, but also promotes the implementation and empowerment of teaching achievements in local areas, which is a two-way journey between youth and rural areas.
Lin Jiadong, Deputy County Mayor of Songyang County People’s Government, stated that this event aims to capture and disseminate the achievements of Songyang’s cultural industry in empowering rural revitalization through a youth perspective. He hopes to further establish a deep connection with Peking University and jointly promote the Songyang practice of rural revitalization and common prosperity.
From April to June 2024, Peking University students will visit traditional villages such as Yangjiatang, Songzhuang, Chenjiapu, and Hengkeng in Songyang. They will use their cameras to capture the rural landscape, cultural characteristics, and vivid stories of Songyang, and from a youth perspective, record the memories of those soon to disappear rural areas, exploring the development path of rural culture in the new era.
After the official launch of the “Ideal of the World Only in Songyang” screening event, the main creative representatives of five high-quality video works created by Peking University students, including “Xiaozhou”, “Jinguili · Lingrong Biography”, “Creating Hometown in a Foreign Land”, “Micro Drama · Yangjiatang”, and “Returning Home”, were promoted on site and exhibited one by one. Each work embodies the exquisite artistic conception, meticulous research and creation, rigorous adjustment and polishing, and profound rural creativity of the main creative team. The guests on site conducted a comprehensive evaluation and exchange of the creative concept, conceptual design, camera language, background music, storyline, and thematic expression of the work.
The “Dian Dian Firefly Towards Songyang” exhibition showcases the works of Peking University students, showcases Songyang homestays, and sets up a Songyang cultural tourism and creative promotion area. During the exhibition, experts, professors, guests, and young students showed a strong interest in the exhibition and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on homestays, cultural and creative industries, scenery, and humanities in Songyang County.
It is reported that the creative exhibition is jointly guided by the Cultural Industry Research Institute of Peking University and the Rural Cultural and Creative Special Committee of the China Cultural Industry Association, and hosted by the Songyang County Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports.
